As offline media, magnetic tapes offer large storage capacities that require neither power nor cooling. NovaStor's solution for cold data storage utilizes the maximum read and write speed of tapes and thus achieves short retrieval times in the deep archive area. 

Regular integrity checks and data migrations prevent data loss due to media ageing. Central media management enables future-proof lifecycle management for all storage devices.

Growing data volumes put a strain on disk systems. Archiving inactive data reduces costs and must meet availability requirements at the same time.

Working with NovaStor’s backup experts, the company’s IT managers developed an archiving strategy that NovaStor’s team customized and implemented for the customer. Out of a total of 13 PB, 8 PB of data were transferred from actively used disk systems to a tape library within a few months.
